skiing at Big Sky Resort

This past weekend we had the opportunity to go night skiing with headlamps at Big Sky Resort, MT. Truth be told, we were a little skeptical how cool of an experience it would be. The hype was real:

“Big Sky Resort’s new night skiing experience is unlike anything else in North America.  The escapade begins as the sun begins to set over Lone Peak and continues into the night, as countless stars illuminate the vast Montana sky.” – Big Sky

We met up with our guide at 6:45pm to mount up our super bright 2,100-lumen Lupine Blika headlamps and headed over to the Ramcharger 8. We jumped on the state of the art eight-seat chairlift as the blue hour started to fade into night.

Sliding off the chair and onto the freshly groomed slopes the stoke was high.

The first run down the fresh corduroy solidified the fact that we were in for one fun night. Our small crew of skiers and riders made lap after lap down perfectly groomed slopes with our headlamps providing more than enough light to illuminate the surrounding darkness.

The skiing was fun but the experience of being out on the hill as a tight group of skiers in transition from evening into night was the real payoff.

After two hours of skiing we slid down to Scissorbills Saloon for some beers and laughs.

If your heading to Big Sky we would absolutely recommend checking this out.
