A ruptured water main forced Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort to close today. Resort officials said they are still waiting for test results before making the call on a Friday reopening. Here is the official statement from Mt. Bachelor’s website:“11:30 a.m. UPDATE: We have located the rupture location. It’s beneath our West Village parking lot, next to the administration building. This is the main line from our well to the underground storage reservoir, which feeds water to every building and outlet on the mountain. Repair work is underway thanks to the speedy efforts of our own crews and specialty contractors who arrived quickly this morning.

2:00 p.m. UPDATE:  Crews have successfully repaired the broken pipe and water is flowing through our system again. We need to follow a standard set of procedures following an outage, however, including flushing the system, collecting a water sample and sending it to a lab for testing. That process is underway now.

We’re not quite ready to announce our intentions for tomorrow just yet, as we need to check a couple more items first. We hope to confidently announced tomorrow’s status between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. today. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

At this time, the ski area remains closed – and that closure also applies to uphill travel. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
