A-Basin is closed today due to high avalanche danger.

“Due to extreme avalanche concerns A-Basin and Highway 6 over Loveland Pass will not be opening today,” Arapahoe Basin chief operating officer Alan Henceroth announced via his blog this morning. “We are working closely with CDOT to manage this challenging situation. For updates today, pay attention to our website and my blog.”

Arapahoe Basin is reporting 14 inches of new snow over the previous 24 hours.

Colorado has been going through an avalanche cycle that has wreaked havoc on the states roads and highways.

Further down the I-70 corridor, Copper mountain is dealing with a ruptures natural-gas pipeline that was caused by an avalanche.
