Forbes is reporting that American Media Inc. has acquired certain choice publications including Powder Magazine that were previously under the ownership umbrella of TEN: The Adventure Sports Network.

AMI is known largely throughout the media world as a tabloid publisher with such titles as The National Enquirer and Soap Opera Digest dominating large portions of their readership. The company and its head executive, David Pecker came under fire during the 2016 presidential campaign for allegedly accepting a $150,000 payoff from Donald Trump’s former counsel, Michael Cohen to bury a story about Playboy Playmate, Karen McDougal. McDougal claims she had an affair with Trump in 2007 while he was married to Melania.

Two years ago, AMI acquired Men’s Journal and with this latest move, it’s clear AMI retains a certain willingness to move large portions of their financial focus towards the action sports markets.
