From being over confident, rushing, not looking at the signs, there were many things that I did wrong and I have tried to take those lessons forward with me and hope that I can inspire others to take that extra moment to review a line before dropping in.”

On the 28th of March 2008 we nearly lost legendary big mountain rider Xavier de Le Rue. Xavier knows he made mistakes that day and wants to use the experience as a cautionary tale for backcountry skiers and snowboarders to be a bit less emotional and bit more analytical when it comes to line choices:
