After a year of international travel, this couple gained a new perspective on what is needed to get along and have a happy life. Shortly there after they bought this decommissioned Denver City Bus and converted it into a family home. The rest is history, this is their story:
“Facing an unaffordable housing market, Scott and Emily bought a retired Denver city bus at auction and rebuilt it as a spacious home for themselves and children. With no building experience, they relied on help from family and online resources.
They designed DIY transforming furniture to make the “rooms” serve double duty. Using a kit, Emily and her father built a murphy bed so the largest room in the bus can transform from kids’ play room to master bedroom. Scott and Emily hacked IKEA beds to create “living room” couches that transform into a large guest bed. Since Scott works from home, the back of the bus serves as kids’ bedroom (with one lofted bed) as well as home office.
The couple had already downsized their stuff before buying the bus when they spent a year living out of 36 liter backpacks. The bus was an upgrade, though they continue to live with tiny wardrobes and fairly limited belongings.”

*Awkward photo of the back of us as we gaze over the beauty of Lost Lake* Today was the first outdoorsy adventure we've been on as a family since Jameson was born. You can see video of how it went on our IG stories, but other than the fact that I totally forgot to bring Carter shoes 🤦♀️ It went well! Jameson's little coat suit thingy is wayy too big for him right now so he was basically in a sleeping bag 🤣 But he was super warm and comfy so I'm calling it a win! I'm going to bed with a very full heart tonight ❤️❤️❤️ #hikingtheglobewithkids
I finally blogged about our backyard camping trip from a couple weeks ago! Scott and Carter spent a good portion of the evening spotting bats and learning about them. I live this curious almost 4 year old of mine!! It's almost tempting to just backyard camp this month too 😂 So many more photos on the blog! #linkinbio
We watched a friend's cat last week while they were out of town and Carter and Zellie (especially Zellie) were beside themselves with excitement ❤️🐈❤️ Though I'm sure the cat would've preferred to be left alone 😬 Seriously though, when I see how happy Zellie is around animals I want to just go somewhere and buy all the kittens for her! It's a good thing I have no idea where I would even go to buy kittens 🤔 What are your thoughts on kids and pets? • • • • • #homeonwheels #habitandhome #busconversion #letsgosomewhere #skoolieconversion #adventuremobile #minimal #stayandwander #instatravel #instagood #stayandwander #buslife #adventure #travel #homeiswhereyouparkit #vanlife #exploreeverything #campervan #roamtheplanet #gorving #livingtinyproject #vanlifediaries #camperlifestyle #vanlifeideas #vancrush #dreambiglivetiny #tinyhouseblog #tinyhouse #tinyhomes #compactliving
Two years ago to the day, we bought this monstrosity with even bigger dreams for our future ✨ I'm happy to say that 2 years into this tiny living adventure has been amazing for our family as we've grown together through trials and triumphs and we couldn't be more excited about what the future might hold! 🙌 🚌
I'm so excited to be going home tonight and seeing my little family!! 🚌👨👩👧👦 It's been an amazing few days with my best friend during her beautiful wedding, but I'm looking forward to getting out of this AZ heat and back to the billowing clouds of the PNW 🌥💕 Not looking forward to airports and planes 😖 but often times in life we have to sacrifice a little to experience great rewards!
