A pair of cars carrying four people were hit by an avalanche on Switzerland’s Klausen Pass on Sunday. Three of those caught in the slide suffered injuries that were “non life threatening“ reports SwissInfo.ch.
The avalanche occurred at an elevation of approximately 6,500′ and a rescue effort was initialized shortly after the slide. Ultimately the injured persons were airlifted to a nearby hospital. One person who was caught was able to leave the scene unscathed.
Motorists can expect the pass to remain closed for the near future as authorities properly evaluate and mitigate the avalanche risk on Klausen Pass.
