Two teenagers have died in an avalanche near Snoqualmie Pass, WA. The two teens, identified as Declan Ervin, age 17 and Niko Suokko, age 18, were snowshoeing at Alpental on Sunday when the slide struck. Their parents called 911 when they didn’t return home.

Deputies reported that one of the teens was an experienced snowshoer and both were wearing avalanche beacons.

Searchers located the teens with the help of GPS on one of the victim’s phones.

According to Suokko LinkedIn profile, he was a ski instructor at Summit at Snoqualmie.

Avalanche conditions at the time were ‘considerable’.
