The state of Colorado bested the majority of countries that participated in the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, making it one of the most successful winter sports province/state in the entire world. Just so happens that Steamboat Springs, CO also produces the most winter Olympians of any town in United States– just FYI.
A recent blog post by Westword put Colorado’s emphasis on winter sports into numerical perspective. Of the 92 countries that competed in the games, Colorado beat out 78 individual nations with its 10 medals, making the state better than 84% of the field.
The CO team is star-studded as well with big names like Mikaela Shiffrin, Lindsey Vonn, and Red Gerard calling places like Vail and Silverthorne home.
