An 18 year-old man, David Kohlhase is dead following a collision with a tree on Sunday River’s Tempest Trail late last night reports the Portland Press Herald.
The man was accompanied by two others, one of whom was also injured. The third bystander called for help after the two men crashed at roughly 2am. According to the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department, sledding on the ski area is strictly forbidden to the public.
Kohlhase was a senior at Portsmouth High school in New Hampshire. The other injured person is also enrolled at the same high school but his name have yet to be released. The police say the two were riding on some sort of inflatable when they lost control and crashed into a tree.
*Our deepest condolences go out to the victim’s friends and family
