“I whacked my head pretty good” — Jake Phelps, 54 year-old Editor in Chief Thrasher Magazine

A Dolores Park skate session in San Fransisco got out of hand with Thrasher Editor in Chief, Jake Phelps sustaining a traumatic brain injury while police clashed with skaters last week.

In this NBC Los Angeles interview, the skateboarding icon opens up about the events that transpired and gives us an update on how he’s doing. Recounting the accident, he goes on to say that he’d sent the hill once before but on the second attempt, he hit a trashed bike reflector and pitched the board sideways before hitting the ground. Oh yeah– he also mentions that he occasionally bombs the hill at 6am on the way to work
