Great to see Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows hosting their on the hill “Beacon & Eggs” event to raise community awareness of how to use avalanche transceivers. Here is the press release from last year’s event, hopefully they will have a similar grand prize this season:

Beacon & Eggs is a long standing Alpine Meadows Easter tradition. This is a fun way to learn the basics of avalanche awareness and proper beacon techniques while searching for Easter Eggs filled with great prizes. One lucky winner will find the golden egg, inside is a 2016-17 Bronze Tahoe Super Pass. Bring your own avalanche beacon, ski patrol will provide probes and tips for pinpointing the eggs.”

The event will be held at April 16th, 2017….couldn’t find this year’s registration information but hopefully they will update their EVENT CALENDAR soon.
