We know. Central and Southern Wyoming aren’t known for rad, big mountain terrain but that doesn’t mean they don’t have quality skiing.

Located just outside of towns like Laramie and Casper, Wyoming, a few ski areas are about to see their best skiing of the season if NOAA’s models are accurate.

Hogadon Basin and Snowy Range Ski Area are both set to receive over a foot of snow out of this storm and Casper/Laramie skiers and riders couldn’t be more stoked on the accumulation.

…WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM MST FRIDAY…

* TIMING…Snow, heavy at times, will continue through Friday morning.

* TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS…1 to 2 feet. Locally higher amounts are possible.

* WINDS/VISIBILITY…Winds variable in direction 10 to 20 MPH with gusts up to 30 MPH. Visibilities will be reduced to under one half mile at times in falling snow.

* IMPACTS…High impacts for travel and outdoor recreation. Expect extremely dangerous or impossible mountain travel with icy and snow packed roads and periods of low visibility. Those with outdoor interests in the Snowy and Sierra Madre mountain ranges should be prepared for severe winter conditions which will be dangerous and life threatening to anyone caught unprepared.

…WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM MST FRIDAY…

* TIMING…Snow will continue today and be heavy at times through this evening. Snow will continue tonight, before subsiding by mid day Friday.

* SNOWFALL ACCUMULATION…Ranging from up to 2 feet on Casper Mountain, with 12 to 16 inches across Natrona County.

* Wind and Visibility…Northeast wind 20 to 30 mph with gusts over 45 mph in open areas causing visibilities under one quarter mile at times.

* MAIN IMPACT…Roads will become slick and snow covered. Gusty northeast winds will occur this morning, causing blowing and drifting snow. This could significantly reduce visibility and make travel difficult to impossible.
