President Xi Jinping toured a future site for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games Monday at a ski resort in Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province, China. He glad handed with skier kids and had these words of encouragement:
“Winter sports depend on you.”
The Chinese President wants the Olympic Games buildout to be done cost effectively and thoughtfully. Chanel News Asia has this quote from him:
“All projects must show the principle of the thrifty and intensive use of resources and the most effective use of resources. Don’t go in for grandiose projects or rashly put up establishments.”
The overall budget for the games is $3 billion USD, far less than the $51 billion USD Russia spend in Sochi for the 2014 games.
