Watch: More Tourists Walk On Grand Prismatic Spring | Escorted Out By Park Rangers
Although nobody was injured or killed, The Bozeman Daily Chronicle is reporting that a man accidentally fired a gun inside a bathroom at the Old Faithful Lodge in Yellowstone National Park this past Wednesday.
A shell casing was found on the floor of the bathroom and a bullet was located in one of the ceiling’s wooden beams.
The gunshot was reported to authorities by a maintenance worker at the lodge. Multiple witnesses confirmed that report, including one person who was in the restroom at the time. They all indicated that the gunshot was likely accidental.
Park officials believe the man responsible fled after the shot rang out. Although carrying a firearm within national park boundaries has been legal since 2010, firing a gun within Yellowstone National Park remains illegal.
