An Aspen ski instructor is dead after colliding with a tree at Park City Mountain Resort on Sunday reports The Aspen times. The deceased individual has since been identified as 48 year-old Aspen ski instructor, Hansi Brenninger. Brenninger was skiing in expert terrain with his son Max at the time of the accident.

According to the article, Ski patrol were the first rescue personnel on the scene and they began administering life saving techniques prior to airborne rescue and medical personnel offering their services. Unfortunately, attempts to revive the Aspen local were unsuccessful and Brenninger was later pronounced dead.

Brenninger, who hails from Australia, was a cherished member of the Aspen community. A realtor, ski instructor, and outdoorsman, he embodied the Aspen spirit and will truly be missed. Hansi Brenninger is survived by his wife Kelly as well as his two children, Max and Emily.

*Our deepest condolences go out to Hansi’s friends and family
