Getting to and from the mountain has always been a challenge for vacationers who fly into mountain towns, leaving out of towners asking questions like:

Do we pay a premium to stay within walking distance of the lifts?

Do we rent a car and does it have to be 4 wheel drive?

Do we schedule our day around the shuttle?

Well UBER-SKI in Tahoe just stepped up their skier transposition game by offering UBER’s with ski racks for $5 surcharge so you don’t have to worry about your gear cramping your style as you travel to and from the mountain. The new service is set to begin Saturday and will offer UBER-X prices but with the addition of the $5 surcharge for the ski rack.

This kind of service is great alternative to relying on shuttles or paying exorbitant prices for car rentals or lodging at the base of the mountain. Something tells me there is going to be a surplus of drivers available as locals are always looking to make a couple extra dollars on the side to feed their ski additions.

Estimated fares for the Lake Tahoe area according to the LA TIMES:

  • Squaw Valley to Truckee: $32
  • Alpine to Tahoe City: $29
  • Northstar to King’s Beach: $26
