In a rare skiing accident, two skiers are dead following a head-on collision at a German ski resort. The two victims were both males age 29 and 30.

The crash took place on a beginner slope at Feldberg ski resort during the last run of the day, with the lifts already stopped. It was reported that the runs were all but empty, with just 100 skiers left on the hill.

“It’s a really flat slope – a so-called beginners’ slope. It’s hard to explain how it could have happened on that part of the piste,” Adrian Probst from the local mountain rescue told news agency DPA.

They were both wearing helmets at the time of the accident.
