Normally names like Jackson, Snowbird, and Telluride are thrown around when talking about the best ski resorts in the United States but not this year reports KSL.com.
The World Ski Awards has put the crown on a new king– Deer Valley.
While Deer Valley Resort is known for some pretty rad terrain, no lift lines, and the absence of snowboarding, it’s rarely thrown in the mix as the best ski resort in the United States. However, after a million votes were cast by tourism professionals as well as luxury consumers (key word– luxury), the clear favorite was Deer Valley Resort.
The resort’s dining (really… dining?) is what set it apart from other ski destinations.
In the KSL article, senior communications manager Emily Summers confirmed that belief, taking note of the unique experience at Fireside Dining. The Fireside Dining experience consists of four courses that are served around 4 different fireplaces, which she says, “I kind of call it the epitome of a ski vacation.” She later added, “It’s definitely got that feel that you are at a ski resort with the sleigh ride and the cheese melting on your plate in front of the fireplace.”
Cue the Lloyd Christmas’ dream sequence…
While Deer Valley might claim to be one of the best resorts in Utah, it’s a hard sell to tell skiers that a ski resort was awarded such an honor due to its dining options. One would think that the World Ski Awards would award the United States’ Best Ski Resort because it has the best skiing. No?
That said, this video makes Deer Valley look pretty tasty…
