With all of the new snow in Colorado, the CDOT teams have had plenty of opportunity to try out their new avalanche mitigation system, the GAZEX Exploder, and apparently they are happy with the results. There are many advantages of the system, chiefly the ability to trigger avalanches remotely and to does so quickly and repeatedly. Given the success of this pilot program don’t be surprised to see more of these things popping up around passes in Colorado.
