Today, Burton has announced a shift in corporate structure that will see Donna Carpenter as the new CEO for snowboard company based out of Burlington, Vermont. Also, executive John Lacy will man the ship as the new President starting today. Jake Burton, who has battled illness over the past year, will stay on as the Chairman of Burton.
Jake had nothing but positive words for his wife whom he claimed, “as Burton’s President for the past five years, Donna has proven she can lead us through thick and thin.”
And with the snowboard industry ailing, that’s just what Burton is going to need.
However, he expressed his trust in her abilities saying, “She has been by my side since the earliest days of Burton, and I completely trust her to lead our company into the future. She makes me proud.” He also spoke on the significance of John Lacy taking over as president. When considering Lacy, Jake recalled the early days of his career, “it seems like just yesterday [Lacy] was a kid managing our young bag business, and now he’ll be telling me what to do.”
Mike Reece will continue to serve as the company’s senior financial advisor as he moves closer to his home in Pennsylvania.
Jake Burton’s Letter To Snowboarding
Whether it’s improving the connection between boards and bindings or developing more sustainable methods to keep riders warm and dry we know what it takes to get it done.
Since day one, we’ve charged ahead to innovate and give as much back to snowboarding as we’ve gotten out of it. We answer to no one but snowboarders and support everything we do with the quality and service that shops and riders have grown to expect.
The new season is here and so is the next technical evolution. It’s tome to strap in and feel the difference.
The next run is now.
