X-Games Will Make Its Scandanavian Debut In Oslo, Norway This Winter

By

This past Tuesday, ESPN announced that the X-Games are taking a leap across the Atlantic and landing in Oslo, Norway for the first time ever starting February 24th.

The new venue, which was reached in conjunction with Norway’s leading broadcaster TV2 along with help from the city of Oslo, will provide the winter sports-rich countries in Scandinavia with a premiere competition on the world’s biggest stage.

X-Games Oslo will officially be held from February 24-28, 2016.

The games will also include mens and women’s Skateboard Street discipline along with the other winter-oriented events such as Snowboard and Ski Big Air and Snowboard and Ski SuperPipe. As it stands, there will not be a slope-style event at X-Games Oslo.

“I’m confident this will inspire young Norwegians to strap into skis and boards and get out to the hill. We support X Game Oslo to show new aspects of the sport city Oslo, and we would like to present Oslo as the world’s best compact arena for culture and sports.”- Hallstein Bjercke, Oslo Vice Mayor of Cultural Affairs and Business Development

Also, event planners say there will also be an abundance of musical acts including one unknown headliner along with a litany of local acts.

Among the stoked competitors to be invited to X-Games Oslo is Olympic gold medalist Kelly Clark. In an interview with ESPN, Clark said “I am looking forward to X Games Oslo this year. They hosted a great event for World Championships in 2012, so it will be fun to compete in that pipe again.”

So without further ado, here are the invites thus far:
