Pond Skims were in full force this weekend during closing weekend at Arapahoe Basin and I’m sad to say that lift served skiing in Colorado is officially closed until next fall (October is only 4 months away!). All in all, A-Basin wrapped up a season for the ages, which saw crazy late season snowfall and an extended closing date.

Although, the Basin did not make it to July 4th this year, the late season skiing was all-time for the Summit County ski area and locals as well as greater Denver residents enjoyed some of the best skiing of the year in early May. In particular, May 10th set a single day skier visit record, which came on the heels of a foot of powder from two days before.

Normally, Arapahoe Basin and Loveland ski areas open in mid October if the snow and weather cooperate.

Timberline Ski Area on Mt. Hood is the only resort in the United States still spinning lifts.
