Trust me, I wouldn’t bring this up if it wasn’t an issue.

You got a new iPhone and made the educated decision that since it shoots “HD video” buying a real camera to film your upcoming edit is completely unnecessary. That’s fine if you don’t need any of the basic features that have been common in video cameras for the last couple decades such as zoom, but as a viewer I can probably learn to deal with it. As long as you get close enough to the action that your subject looks bigger than a hummingbird.

What I can’t deal with is searching through youtube on a rainy day in Whistler, looking for shred videos (or at least funny bails) to kill my down time and finding out that every 2nd video I click on is shot at what is rapidly becoming the internet’s industry standard 9×16.

Vertical video is a major problem in my life right now, and it can be prevented by educating the dumb. So without further adieu, take a couple minutes off of editing your next big release on your mobile device and watch this PSA.

Thank you, pass it on.
