Fundraising, I know what you’re thinking, “Back off hippie I’m broke!” Always a touchy subject amongst a community of ski bums, transients, dirt bags, and underpaid workers. Luckily, the Whistler folk have helped all sides win this Tuesday by hosting ‘Whistler Cares’ at Creekbread Pizzeria, with the simple concept that we’ve all gotta eat.
Creekbread, the super amazing pizza joint in Creekside, will be hosting this event and giving all profits from pizzas sold during the event to one of the attending local non-profit groups. It must be noted that these organizations are working to create a positive change within the community. The objective is simply to show Whistler who they are, what they’re doing, and what you can do to help.
So this is where you come in … as they’ll also be selling loonie and toonie raffle tickets to win from an outrageous list of prizes including hour long in-house massages, backcountry gear, shred gear and piles of other goodies. Then at the end of it all, one ticket and one person will decide where all that cheesy gooey pizza money will go to as only one of the attending groups will get the loot. Do I smell competition? Yup, and it’s dipped in marinara and wafting with après pizza stank.
Highlighted organizations involved are: Boarders Without Borders, Earth Save Whistler, Inspire Earth Organics, and the Whistler Community Services Society.
