Silverado @ Squaw Valley
Silverado @ Squaw Valley, 2011

We’ve been waiting a long time for this one.  Today, Squaw Valley will Open Silverado for the first time all season.  It’s damn near April and we finally get into Silvy!  Better late than never.  It’s definitely no ones fault it hasn’t been open.  It takes a lot of snow before they can get down there with a cat and make a road to open it up.

So, are you fired up that they’ve got it open?  It’s 500 acres that you haven’t skied at Squaw yet this year

CONDITIONS IN SILVERADO TODAY:

– Rock hard ice… softening at bit thru the day

– 18F with wind gusts to 27 mph at 8am

– High today of 40F (should soften things a bit, but not too much)

Hopefully these Sun-Wed storm do come thru and allow us to ski Silverado like it is meant to be skied.  This weekend will likely just be skittering around on hard down there.

We’ll be up there today letting you know how Silverado is skiing.  You can follow us on Twitter to get real time updates:  UnofficialSquaw Twitter.  We’ll also do a full report this afternoon.
