Coming to UBC I had dreams of a higher education, a vibrant new city, and most importantly a supportive group of morally correct peers.
Little did I know that drunkenly deciding to run for the first year representative of the UBC Ski and Board Club would flip my world upside down and turn my life into a Cariboo fueled fusion of insane amounts of shred and ridiculously good times.
The Ski and Board Club knows how to have fun, end of story. The Ski and Board Club also knows how to shred, but the question was how do we show the world we’re more than a group of hot babes and dudes with small dicks that know how to have a good time?
The answer came to Ian Brown and Taylor Martin one night deep in the Coastal Mountain Range while contemplating the meaning of life nude on a bear skin rug. The answer was the UBC Freeride Team and hence the fruits of their loins created the lovechild that took over Red Mountain this past week.
The Canadian Freeskiing Championships and the freeskiing competition scene as a whole had no idea what hit them as the UBC Freeride Team brought the wild antics signature of the Ski and Board Club while they systematically destroyed themselves, the mountain, and the competition on and off the hill. We’ve undoubtedly left a long lasting mark on Red Mountain, I’ll let the photos tell the tale.
The success of the trip was undeniable as the King of Freeride, Ian Brown, proceeded to destroy his 13th place run of finals wearing a sensual bathrobe, an elephant thong, avalanche beacon, and competition bib proving to the world that the UBC Freeride Team not only has big(ish) penises but can hold their own on the hill with the best of them.
