Blackcomb Glacier was grey and ominous this morning as we skinned off the backside, but once we crawled out of Stair Master chute the sun came out; you can bet your bottom dollar. The views were great and the snow, although not bottomless, was fairly soft and really fast. We ripped one down Poop Chutes to cap off the day’s short tour. A final lap in Lakeside and a small skin up the far ridge let us finish off the day with more smiles. Hope the Deep Winter crews had the same success that we did today. ALPINE CONDITIONS TODAY:

Blackcomb Glacier was grey and ominous this morning as we skinned off the backside, but once we crawled out of Stair Master chute the sun came out; you can bet your bottom dollar. The views were great and the snow, although not bottomless, was fairly soft and really fast. We ripped one down Poop Chutes to cap off the day’s short tour. A final lap in Lakeside and a small skin up the far ridge let us finish off the day with more smiles. Hope the Deep Winter crews had the same light success that we did today.

Sheltered north and northwest aspects however, are keeping some good stashes of light snow. The best turns have got to be in Lakeside Bowl.

The Deep Winter Photo Challenge began today so Unofficial Whistler split up to conquer everything in the Sea to Sky corridor. We fell short of our ‘everything’ goal, but we did manage to cover two Deep Winter teams and test out our legs on Stair Master all at the SAME time today.
