The skiing has been really bleak for the last few weeks at Alta and Snowbird. It is starting to feel like Colorado here with the severe lack of snow. I have been sticking to Alta mostly due to the fact that they have more terrain open, slightly better snow and slightly less rocks. The forecast is not looking to improve anytime soon, so plan on scraping your way down the groomers for at least a few more days. One bright spot in all the lameness is High Rustler at Alta. It is skiing like a rockstar with high speed chalk from top to bottom. It is a little tough to access though using either of the two options.

Option 1: Traverse out West Rustler to Jitterbug and boot strait up to the ridge line, then traverse over.

Option 2: Take the Ski School Traverse from the top of Collins all the way across the Backside, then sidestep all the way across Gunsight and Thirds to get to the traverse. This way is a little easier on the lungs.

Either way, if you are looking for the best skiing that is where you will find it. Please don’t turn too much, it is all smooth and bump free and we like it that way.

See you out there…
