Where do people go after they’ve been skiing hard all morning, all day, and really need to grub? I trust we might have a bunch of different ideas depending on who’s doing the talking, but I know I’m not the only one that heads straight for Tacos Jalisco (TJ) in Truckee.

For most of you this is a no brainer, as you’ve probably eaten here a million times. I’ve only come across one dude while climbing at the Summit one summer that ragged on TJ. After he left the eight of us up there just couldn’t figure out what hell that guys problem was.

We have a million amazing things going for us all around the greater Tahoe area, and although if I wanted to be picky I could say we could use a few more ethnic eatery options, TJ’s gets the job done right. It’s cheap, it’s fresh, and it’s always good. Chips and Salsa are a must, and from tacos to burritos, whatever you order up, chances are you’re gonna be stoked, and leave full.

My go-to is a veggie-burrito with two fish tacos, but most of my other friends like to mix it up with some shrimp, carne asada, and/or chicken.

If you eat here often, you know why I’m tossing them a bone on the site, and if you haven’t been, turn at the 7evy off Donner Pass Road next time you’re in town, head towards the back of the parking lot, and give’em a check. You’ll know you’re in the right spot when you get a sweet view of the Summit to the left, and see their sign in the corner off to the right.
