Everybody knows that food in Whistler is not cheap.  So where do you go when you come off the mountain, famished, sore, dying to kick of your boots, and not loving the idea of dropping at least $20 for a mediocre meal?  Located in the north village, Splitz Grill knows what’s up.

Open from 11 am (for those of you whose “last run” comes a wee bit earlier in the day) and closed until whenever the guys feel like killing the tunes emanating from their ipod, Splitz promises “a true gourmet burger joint”–and here, “gourmet” does not mean overpriced.  Offering “the best burgers in Whistler” (and Vancouver) Splitz offers the discerning customer the choice between beef, buffalo, turkey, lamb, salmon, sausage, and hot dogs.  They don’t shy away from vegetarians either–you veggies can find lentil burgers, vegetarian sandwiches, and salads on the menu.  Perhaps the best part of all are the extra additions available to beef up (no pun intended) your choice of burger.  It’s really tough to choose between extra cheese, grilled pancetta bacon, fried egg, sauteed mushrooms and onions, grilled pineapple, and guacamole, when the primarily concern is not whether you can afford the extras (because you know, it’s so affordable) but whether your burger will actually remain an intact burger and not just mess of amazing food on your plate.  The fries are the perfect accompaniment to the meal and oh- don’t forget the Splitz sauce!

So while I’m sure I’m telling you all things you already know, hopefully this still gets you salivating and eager to ski on over to Splitz for not only the best burger in Whistler, but arguably the best meal in Whistler.
