A private plane crashed at Truckee airport this morning, wednesday, September 21st, 2011 at 9:20am. The FAA said that a dual engine Piper Aztec airplane crashed while taking off from the Truckee airport. The plane got about 150 feet off the ground, then came crashing down on the runway and caught on fire. The only passenger was the pilot, Brian Metler of Bakersfield, CA. A private plane crashed at Truckee airport this morning, wednesday, September 21st, 2011 at 9:20am.

The FAA said that a dual engine Piper Aztec airplane crashed while taking off from the Truckee airport.  The plane got about 150 feet off the ground, then came crashing down on the runway and caught on fire.

The only passenger was the pilot, Brian Metler of Bakersfield, CA. Brian was air lifted to Renown Regional Medical Center in  Reno and his current conditions is unknown.

The plane was a PA-23-250.
