…well parts of it.  For sure the first pictures ever taken of any of what we rode.

yours truly, with Stowe friends Molly, Thorin and their VYCC trail builders

Moosalamoo National Forest is the site of some pretty sweet new trails. Vermont Youth Conservation Corp. Members with the guidance of VMBA, trail designer Hardy Avery and local volunteers are in the process of making a really sweet place to ride. Moosalmoo is located just south of Middlebury with multiple trailheads stretching for dozens of miles and tens of thousands of acres. this report is for a loop starting and Minnie Baker Trail, to Liecester Hollow Trail, returning back on Chandler Ridge trail.

here is a rough map of the loop

Minnie Baker Trail is a pretty hateful loose chunky doubletrack climb to start. We only started there because we missed the first trail head for Leicester Hollow.  Turning on to Liecester Hollow trail you are greated by the first sign of substantial trail work going on.

our tax dollars hard at work, BTW HAPPY BIRTHDAY BELINDA…..who ever she is….

Lower Liecester Hollow is currently pretty torn up from flooding. Basically alot of hike a biking. Have no fear because the VYCC is taking care of that. We ran into my friend Molly and her VYCC crew building reroutes around the damage and I have to say the reroutes are built to last.

Roman Road Singletrack

after riding some more reroutes we ended up on the upper hollow trail which besides the thigh high stinging nettles is a pleasant if not slightly boring climb up to silver lake.

Once reaching Silver Lake taking a quick snack break, we hit Chandler Ridge. Chandler Ridge is complete and 100 percent rideable besides some of the awkward recent blow downs.  Chandler Ridge trail has everything from old school chunk to new school flow. Its a ton of work for pretty short trail. The recent trail work is evident is tons of places.

Can you say bench cut?

more of the Roman Road singletrack

pretty cool creepy crawler I saved from death by tire knob

me enjoying the not tight switchback, like rails!

Erik the other Photographer today enjoying out final decent to our car.

Moosalamoo is for worth a look and given time its going to have some super sweet epic singletrack riding potential.
