snow forecast lake tahoe june 2011

snow forecast lake tahoe june 2011The weather forecast in Tahoe as of 5pm on May 31st, 2011.

THE YEAR THERE WAS NO SPRING continues unapologetically.

Alright, it’s time we stop bitching and start accepting. There will be NO SPRING this year and that’s fine. But, to make it okay that there will be no spring, we’ve gotta keep skiing.  And why not?  It’s gonna be pow!

Tahoe has snow in the forecast everyday this week.  Check out the WINTER SNOW ADVISORY for Tahoe from NOAA.GOV:

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: UP TO 2 INCHES AROUND 5000 FEET AND UP TO
  5 INCHES ABOVE 6500 FEET.

* SNOW LEVEL: AROUND 5000 FEET.

* TIMING: SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS IN THE MORNING...BECOMING HEAVY
AT TIMES WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING.

This is nutty, but epic.  Lets get out there and take advantage of it.  There seriously may never be a winter like this in our lifetimes again.

Backcountry Brennan Legasse will be bringing us some detailed reports this week and next about the California passes that are open:  Tioga, Sonora, and Ebbetts.  I bet the skiing is gonna be pretty unreal off those passes in June.
