Today felt like the first day of Spring at Snowbird. The sun was pounding down, the snow was soft and delicious and the skiers were out in thin numbers. Most trams were going up about 3/4th full today, which was really refreshing after the Beater Madness of the last month plus.
After sampling some air and pow in the Cirque with Kyle “Jibber Kyle” Wehmanen I got hooked up with Vermonster Dean Southworth and snowboard slayer Tim Valcourt on their adventure to White Pine. On the hike out we ran into more local Bro Brahs and the shred was on. Scotty’s was dominated twice before the day was done. Then it was Apre time at the P-Dog.
In a side note I would like to spread the word that the long forbidden Comma Chute area is in the process of being opened for the first time in history. I spoke with snow safety guru Jimmy Collinson and got the word that the ropes are already in place to keep you from skiing off a 200 foot cliff. We may get to eat the fruit that has been denied for so long in the very near future. Please try not to get killed in Comma Area in the first week or two because they are going to open it up slowly with the best looking stuff coming online later. That is all.
