I feel like I’m waking up from a dream today.  I have not given a DAMN about what’s going on in Tahoe the past 6 weeks.  The skiing has been what’s going on, period.  Right now we are finally getting a break from the La La Land La Nina insanity and I gotta admit, it feels good.  So this is definitely the weekend to get out there and damage a few brain cells and feel good about it.

Personally, I’m gonna get weird and go see Vinyl for free tonite.  I’ve seen Vinyl many times in San Francisco and their style of Latin Funk gets females crazy on the dance floor.

Friday, Jan 7 – Vinyl, Latin Funk Band at Crystal Bay Club. Free.  10pm.  Crystal Bay Crown Room.  Crystalbaycasino.com

Saturday-Sunday, Jan 8-9 – Women’s Freeskiing Camp with Ingrid Backstrom. Squaw Valley.  $350 which includes: 1/2 hour morning yoga session Saturday & Sunday, breakfast, lunch, video and a gift bag from Columbia, The North Face, Clif Bar, Kombi, Volkl / Marker and Tecnica (doesn’t include lift ticket).  Intermediates between 13 and 98 years old welcome. This is a fun freeride camp taught by America’s top female pros.  This camp is all about building confidence and self-esteem on the mountain for the ladies.  If you’re a female skier, you’re missing out if you’re not at this camp.    Meet at 7:30 for breakfast and yoga.  More information at:  call (530) 412-1031 or email: jsstahoe@gmail.comingrid_backstrom@hotmail.com.

Saturday, Jan 8 – Free Champagne at Alpine Meadows! 6-9pm.  Alpine is celebrating their 50th with free booze (a champagne toast), two bands, dinner, and dancing.   www.skialpine.com

Sunday, Jan 9 – Tahoe Women’s Services Ski Day at Sugarbowl.  Please come ski Sugarbowl on Sunday.  Sugarbowl will donate 1,000 pass fees to Tahoe Women’s Services which  is committed to reducing the incidence and trauma of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse in the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee communities.  This is a super important and worthy cause.
