NOAA releases their winter weather prediction for the 2015 -2016 winter.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has published an official winter weather outlook for the winter of 2015 – 2016. Their predictions are inline with what has been historically seen during winters with a strong El Niño event. In fact, many at NOAA believe that the 2015 -2016 winter could see the strongest El Nino event in 50 years.
NOAA’s official outlook for the winter of 2015 -2016 is inline with our earlier post on the potential winners and losers of the upcoming season.
The forecast bares well for the skiers and snowboarders of California, Arizona, Southern Colorado, & New Mexico with predictions of above average precipitation and below average temperatures.
This forecast is not looking as good for skiers and snowboarders in the Pacific Northwest, Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming, where below average precipitation forecast and well above average temperatures is forecasted.
We are still waiting on the unofficial winter weather forecast from Farmers Almanac, which should be published in last August.
