An Uber driver who chose to follow his GPS rather than listening to both his passengers and several warning signs wound up stuck on Georgia Pass in Colorado.

According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, the driver was bringing four passengers to Bailey, Colorado, when the GPS told him to head over Georgia Pass. The passengers told the driver on multiple occasions that they didn’t think he was going the right way, but he insisted on following the navigation instructions.

He continued on the pass despite passing three large signs stating that the road was closed to wheeled vehicles. He worked his way up toward the Middle Fork and eventually slid off the groomed portion of the road, winding up stuck in a ditch.

None of the occupants were injures and a deputy was able to pull them out with a rope tow. After returning to the trailhead, the driver was given a citation for driving on a road designated only for snowmobiles.

Later in the same evening, a young juvenile snuck out of his house late at night to take a drive, working his way several miles up the Georgia Pass road. After becoming stuck, the individual walked back toward Tiger Road to find help due to a lack of cell service, finally getting a signal after around an hour.

He called his mom, leaving a message, though the lack of service made it hard for her to understand what he had said. She reported him missing, and deputies were able to find him thanks to a passing vehicle that he told he needed help. The individual was located and given a courtesy ride home.
