Maine โ As Maine prepares to host a signature uphill skiing event this weekend, two Maine ski areas are speaking out against guests who could be messing it up for everyone else.
The first to recently warn against this was Black Mountain of Maine. This is the ski area that will host the Last Skier Standing event this weekend. This is the event that sees skiers skin up and then ski down once each hour, with the last skier still going be the winner. As you can imagine, people’s feet end up looking extremely sanitary by the end of day 1. Anyways, I digress.
Black Mountain of Maine cited recent examples of people breaking the rules, which they consider theft of services (a.k.a. illegal and a crime). If people want to ski for free, they can do so on Wednesday nights, which is sponsored by Franklin Savings Bank. You can read Black Mountain’s uphill policy here.
The latest warning came from Mt. Abram, which is situated relatively nearby. They have also been seeing people not pay for uphilling, and notified guests that they treat it as theft of services. You can read Mt. Abram’s uphill policy here.
In conclusion, just because you’re earning your turns doesn’t mean you don’t have to play by the rules. Even if you did pay over $2,000 for your sick uphill setup.
