Chimney Rock set to reopen @ Chimney Rock State Park

Excellent news out of North Carolina where officials at Chimney Rock State Park have announced they are reopening Chimney Rock on Friday, June 27th, after exactly nine months of recovery since Hurricane Helene.

“Thank you for all your love and support during our closure. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this reopening possible. It’s been a long road, but we’re excited to have you back on the trails with us soon.” -Chimney Rock State Park

Chimney Rock is 535-million-year-old granite monolith and is considered one of the most iconic natural sites in North Carolina. Visitors who reach the viewing platform on Chimney Rock are rewarded with 75-mile panoramic views of Hickory Nut Gorge and Lake Lure.

Access to Chimney Rock State Park has been limited since September 2024 due to the loss of the park entrance bridge. The North Carolina Department of Transportation recently installed a temporary bridge and has been working repairing the park’s roadways.

Reservations will be required for all visitors including Annual Passholders. Chimney Rock advises space will be limited as they get back up and running.
