LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Remember those bizarre metal monoliths that were appearing all over the world back in 2020? One was found on Utah BLM land, and then several others were discovered in remote locations around the world. Nobody ever really found out who or what caused them before they disappeared, but we might have another shot at answers.
The Las Vegas Metro Police Department revealed that another metal monolith has been discovered on a hiking trail near Gass Peak, sharing images of the thing to Facebook. According to their post, it was first discovered by the Las Vegas Metro Search and Rescue.
“We see a lot of weird things when people go hiking like not being prepared for the weather, not bringing enough water… but check this out! Over the weekend, Las Vegas Metro Search and Rescue spotted this mysterious monolith near Gass Peak north of the valley. HOW did it get up there??“
Though nobody ever found out for sure who was putting those monoliths around the world, it was clear to Utah officials that the 2020 monolith was breaking the law. It’s entirely possible that this one is too, and it certainly doesn’t follow Leave No Trace. Several people have claimed responsibility throughout the years, but nothing has fully confirmed their origins.
Here’s my thought on the whole thing: at a first glance, the monoliths are kind of neat. I don’t think it’s aliens, especially since the Utah monolith was pretty obviously manmade. If it’s just some person trying to pull a massive prank, it’s pretty funny. But seeing how much effort is going into the whole thing, I feel like it’s either some artist trying to get a bunch of money when they eventually sell the monoliths at auction, or it’s some PR stunt by some company eventually hoping to get people to buy their stupid product.
If it’s one of those two, I hope they get busted for screwing with public land and aren’t able to make a single dime off the thing. If it’s just a wild prank, good for the prankster, I hope they continue to run free pulling off these wild memes.
