Vail Daily reports scheduling the feat proved critical as wasted time in liftlines would have slowed their progress. They decided Wednesdays would have fewer guests and would make getting up and down the mountain fastest. They stuck to two lifts, one gaining 2,159 feet and the other 2,102 feet. Two runs, 42 laps, speeds maxing out at 67 mph. Anderson wore her lucky helmet, signed by the legendary Lindsey Vonn. Lindsey caught wind of what they were doing and sent them a bit of encouragement in the form of a video:
People followed their progress on Facebook, where Anderson’s dad posted updates on the duo’s fundraising mission for childhood cancer. They aimed for 70,000 feet and $7,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The result was 20,450 feet and $2,760 more than the goal. BOOYA!!!!!
