A number of reports are coming in that a giant crack in the earth has appeared in the southern foothills of the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming. These images by Randy Becker show the area of collapsed and shifting soil and rock. The crack has been estimated by some to be 750 yards long by 50 yards wide.
No one is sure what has caused the crack but one local engineer believes that a wet spring lubricated across a cap rock. Then, a small spring on either side caused the bottom to slide out.
