Naming a ski trail usually falls to resort top brass but Camelback Resort in Pennsylvania is turning the job over to its season passholders and putting a pretty tasty prize on the line.
Camelback is asking its passholders to submit names for the resort’s new double black diamond beneath the Stevenson Express. The person who submits the winning name will have their season pass refunded.
“The passholder whose name is chosen will score serious bragging rights and a refund of their season pass.”
The winner gets more than a refund. Their trail name will become part of the mountain.
A New Double Black Under the Stevenson Express
The unnamed run is part of Camelback’s largest terrain expansion in more than 30 years, which Unofficial Networks covered when the three new trails were announced in September.
The new double black follows the fall line beneath the Stevenson Express and drops toward the existing Pharaoh trail, adding another option for advanced skiers and snowboarders on that side of the mountain.
Camelback is also adding a new black diamond beneath the Black Bear 6 lift that connects Basilisk toward John Bailey, along with a new intermediate trail that branches off Upper Cleopatra and winds through the woods before connecting with Big Pocono.
The intermediate run will have another unusual feature: a hidden hot chocolate bar somewhere along the trail.
Passholders Get to Pick the Name
Camelback hasn’t announced a public deadline for the naming contest. Instead, the resort is directing 2026-27 season passholders to watch their email for submission details. For one passholder, coming up with the right name will effectively make their winter at Camelback free.
