A drinking rivalry between two ski towns has a new leader after 1,430 people gathered on Historic Main Street in Park City, Utah, to reclaim the record for the world’s longest charitable shot-ski from Breckenridge, Colorado.

The record-breaking event took place Saturday, October 10, as part of the 10th annual Park City Shot Ski, organized by the Park City Sunrise Rotary Club and presented by High West Distillery. Hundreds of skis were bolted together to create an enormous communal shot-ski stretching through downtown Park City. Participants had their choice of High West whiskey or apple juice before raising their skis and taking a synchronized drink.

The successful attempt topped Breckenridge’s previous record of 1,420 participants by exactly 10 people, continuing a friendly competition between the two mountain towns that has been going on for more than a decade.

Park City And Breckenridge Keep Trading The Record

The two ski towns have been exchanging the title for years, with each attempting to narrowly surpass the other’s previous record.

Park City reclaimed the title in October 2025 when 1,410 people gathered on Main Street. Breckenridge responded during its annual Ullr Fest in December, increasing the record to 1,420 participants.

Park City’s latest effort brought the total to 1,430, giving Utah the bragging rights once again.

While the competition is mostly about having a good time, the events also raise substantial money for local organizations. KPCW’s reports this year’s Park City Shot Ski raised $86,000 for the Sunrise Rotary Club’s grant program, which supports nonprofits working in areas including education, housing, health and recreation.

As for how long Park City will hold its latest title, Breckenridge is already preparing another attempt during Ullr Fest on December 17. Given the history between these two ski towns, there’s a decent chance Colorado will be looking to order a few more shot glasses before winter gets underway.
