Ski Idaho Youth Passport

Registration is now open for one of the best youth ski deals in the country, with Idaho’s 5th and 6th Grade Peak Season Passport returning for the 2026-27 ski and snowboard season.

The Ski Idaho passport gives fifth graders three free days at each of 18 participating ski areas, while sixth graders receive two free days at each mountain. That means a fifth grader could potentially ski or snowboard for free on 54 days over the course of the season, while a sixth grader could get 36 free days.

The passport costs $29 through Dec. 20. Beginning Dec. 21, the price increases to $49, a new tiered pricing structure approved by the Idaho Ski Areas Association earlier this year.

You Don’t Have To Live In Idaho

Despite the name, the program is not limited to Idaho residents. Any fifth- or sixth-grade student can participate, including children from other states. Ski Idaho says the program is also open to qualifying children from outside the United States.

Families can register online, and the passport is delivered electronically after payment is completed. It can then be displayed on a phone or printed and brought to participating ticket offices.

A parent or guardian must accompany the child when the passport is used.

The 18 participating ski areas are Bald Mountain, Bogus Basin, Brundage Mountain, Cottonwood Butte, Grand Targhee, Kelly Canyon, Little Ski Hill, Lookout Pass, Lost Trail, Magic Mountain, Pebble Creek, Pomerelle, Schweitzer, Silver Mountain, Snowhaven, Soldier Mountain, Sun Valley and Tamarack.

Individual ski areas can impose blackout dates or other restrictions, so families should check the rules for each mountain before making a trip. Ski Idaho also notes that passport use can be restricted during races or other special events.

A Lot Of Skiing For $29

The value of the passport undeniable. A fifth grader using every available day would receive as many as 54 full-day lift tickets for the $29 processing fee. A sixth grader could receive as many as 36. There are no additional passport fees beyond the initial processing charge. You do the math.

The passport program is designed to get more young skiers and snowboarders on the mountain while giving families an inexpensive way to explore different ski areas around the state. Families interested in the 2026-27 program can register now, with the lower $29 price available through Dec. 20.
