The Portal AFN7 Adventure Camera from Nocs Provisions.

Nocs Provisions is expanding beyond binoculars and monoculars with the launch of the Portal AFN7 Adventure Camera, a compact, screenless camera designed specifically for outdoor use.

Priced at $179, the Portal AFN7’s screen-free design is intended to reduce distractions and keep users focused on their surroundings instead of immediately reviewing photos after taking them. The camera weighs just 4.9 ounces and features an IP56-rated weather-sealed body designed to protect against dust, rain, and heavy splashes, making it suitable for activities ranging from hiking and camping to paddling and general outdoor adventures.

Designed To Work With Nocs Optics

One of the most unusual features of the Portal AFN7 is its ability to connect directly to compatible Nocs binoculars and monoculars. Instead of using a traditional optical viewfinder, the camera features a compact digital viewfinder designed to work with magnified optics. The included NocDoc alignment shroud allows the AFN7 to dock with compatible Nocs optics, letting users capture photos and video through the binoculars or monocular.

16MP Photos And 4K Video

The Portal AFN7 uses a 1/3.06-inch CMOS sensor capable of capturing 16MP still images and 4K UHD video at 30 frames per second. Its 22.5mm equivalent f/2.2 lens also includes an 8x digital zoom. Six built-in film-inspired presets are available, including looks inspired by Kodachrome 64 and Kodak Gold 200. A no-filter mode is also included for users who want to edit their images later.

The camera includes a sealed 800 mAh battery rated for up to approximately 3,000 photos or 30 to 35 minutes of 4K video per charge. Storage starts with an included 4GB microSD card and can be expanded to 128GB. The Portal AFN7 is available in Galapagos Gray, Moonwalk White and Lassen Black. It is available now for $179 through Nocs Provisions, REI.com and select REI retail locations.

I personally own a pair of Nocs Provisions binoculars and have used them skiing, hiking, bird watching, and much more. They’re great and generally feel really well made, so while I haven’t tried this camera for myself, I would probably trust that it’s a great product.
