Six decades of American ski and snowboard history will be represented in one room in New York City this fall.
U.S. Ski and Snowboard announced that its 60th annual Gold Medal Gala will take place Oct. 22 at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City, bringing together medalists from the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic and Paralympic Games with American winter sports legends dating back to the 1960s. More than 24 current U.S. Ski and Snowboard athletes are expected to attend alongside more than 10 former stars from previous generations. The event raises money to support the organization’s 12 teams and more than 240 athletes.
The current athlete list includes Olympic downhill champion Breezy Johnson, two-time Olympic silver medalist Ryan Cochran-Siegle, Olympic champion Alex Ferreira, Olympic silver medalist Mac Forehand and Olympic bronze medalist Jake Canter.
Oksana Masters, the most decorated Winter Paralympian in history with 24 Paralympic medals, is also scheduled to attend. Other Paralympians include Andrew Kurka, Kate Delson, Noah Elliott, Brenna Huckaby, Mike Schultz, Jake Adicoff and Josh Sweeney.
Olympic Champions Meet U.S. Ski Team Legends
The gathering will extend well beyond athletes currently competing.
Olympic champions Picabo Street and Barbara Ann Cochran are among the former athletes scheduled to attend, while 1998 Olympic moguls champion Jonny Moseley will return as host.
The evening comes after a particularly successful Olympic and Paralympic winter for American snow sports. Johnson won the women’s downhill at Milano Cortina, while the list of athletes scheduled for the gala includes medalists from alpine skiing, freeskiing, cross-country skiing, freestyle skiing, snowboarding and Para events.
Johnson has already made one high-profile trip to New York since the Olympics. In April, she and Paralympic snowboard champion Kate Delson rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange following their gold medal performances.
Last Year’s Gala Raised a Record $3.2 Million
The Gold Medal Gala is U.S. Ski and Snowboard’s largest annual fundraising event, with money raised going toward athlete training, competition and other program costs. U.S. Ski and Snowboard Foundation
The 59th Gold Medal Gala raised $3.2 million in a single night, the largest one night fundraising total in the organization’s history. More than 500 guests and over 20 athletes attended that event at the same Ziegfeld Ballroom.
Last year’s gathering took place just months before the Milano Cortina Games. This year’s edition brings many of those athletes back to New York as Olympic and Paralympic medalists.
The Oct. 22 program will include a live auction, athlete appearances, live music and other fundraising events, according to U.S. Ski and Snowboard.
