Spencer “GimbalGod” Whiting has been in South America this summer and his review on the ski scene is in “Chile is the new Japan.”
The professional snowboarder and filmmaker is world renown for his ultra-smooth, high-speed follow-cam cinematography and he’s been posted up in Chile filming some of the best riders in the world.
Its not new news that Chile is a hotspot for skiers and snowboarders looking to snag powder turns during the Northern Hemisphere’s summer months but its one of those things you have to experience yourself to truly appreciate. GimbalGod has been around the world and back several times in his snowsports career and when he vouches for something being rad, we tend to believe him.
There’s still time if you want to book a last minute trip down south to get some laps in before winter 2026/2027. Place like Portillo and Valle Nevado have been getting pummeled with snow and have extended their seasons. If you do end up hopping a flight to Chile, look out for GimbalGod and tell him to keep up the great work!
