Construction of Whistler Blackcomb’s new Showcase Chairlift is entering its next major phase as crews continue work on Blackcomb Mountain ahead of the 2026-27 ski season.
According to Whistler Blackcomb, concrete foundations for all of the lift towers have now been completed, while backfilling work continues across the project. The foundation for the bottom terminal has also been completed. The resort recently completed installation of the upper terminal as well.
Heavy Lift Helicopter Planned For Fall
One of the biggest remaining steps will be the installation of the lift towers. That work is expected to require a heavy-lift helicopter this fall. Additional earthwork around the bottom terminal is expected to wrap up in September.
The project is part of the ongoing development of the Blackcomb Mountain ski area and is expected to improve access to some of the resort’s alpine terrain.
New Lift Targeted For Winter 2026-27
Once completed, the Showcase Chairlift will provide faster and easier access to terrain on Blackcomb Mountain. The new fixed-grip quad is currently scheduled to open for the 2026-27 winter season.
The upcoming tower installation will represent one of the final major construction phases before the lift can move toward testing and eventual operation. Whistler Blackcomb has continued to provide construction updates as the project progresses, with the latest milestones offering a clearer look at the new lift ahead of winter.
